Here we are again with another post on Wadja Hot Tips.

Today we will deal with the brand NEW Shouts service. Shouts is a service that lets you stay connected through the exchange of simple and short updates. Shouts are replies to the question “What are you doing?” while at the same time they project your voice to other Wadja users and friends.

You can find Shouts on your left navigation and posting a Shout is as simple as shouting in the crowd. Head on to the Shouts page and tell the world what you are up to right now. On the left hand you can see which Shouts are active based on how many Shout backs they have. You can Shout back to an existing shout by clicking the appropriate link and writing your comment.

Go on Shouts and tell the world that you just read another Wadja Hot Tips!

So what are YOU doing?

Wadja Hot Tips, by feed - wadja world

Today’s Wadja Hot Tips will deal with two more smart and useful functionalities concerning your Mediabox.

When you upload or embed new media (photos or videos) most of the times you do not want to keep them for yourself. You would probably like to share them with your friends or even send them through email or SMS. Wadja’s Mediabox gives you the possibility to send your favorite photos or videos and reach your friends both inside and outside the wadja community. When in your Mediabox, just click on the media you would like to send. Underneath your media there are three button links. Let us say for example that you would like to send your favorite photo to your friend’s inbox. Click on the “Email embed” button. You will automatically be transferred to the Compose page where your favorite photo will be embedded in the body of the message. Fill in your friend’s email or Wadja ID and press Send. That’s it!

…And there’s more. You can create your profile’s mobile skin or profile photo with just a click. Select your favorite photo in your Mediabox and click either on “Profile photo” or “Profile skin”. Great… Check your profile!

I hope you feel enlightened and ready to enjoy Wadja further.

Next week Wadja Hot Tips will feature the brand NEW Friends section. Until then, feel free to explore.

11 July IPhone 3G...will be in da house!, by feed - wadja world

I love the iPhone - In my opinion it's not a mobile phone, but a new way of communicating and having fun whilst on the go. I am counting down to the day I will own one... In the US, people are already lining up outside the Apple stores in anticipation for the new 3G iPhone.

Greece is one of the lucky countries where the new 3G iPhone will be available (through Vodafone, later this year). Vodafone has already started SMS'ing its customers informing them that they can pre-order the iPhone, although there is no official announcement from Vodafone as to when, where and how much!

Steve Jobs did us a favor again, releasing the new 3G iPhone, which - according to their ad - is the only phone to beat the original iPhone. Unfortunately, the mobile operators seem to have a firm grip on the availability of the product. Ridiculously expensive data plans, long-term price plans and hefty device pricing.

I can only hope that Vodafone doesn't replace the unique Safari browser, with their own Vodafone Live! initiative.

Did you know that with Wadja you can edit your uploaded photos and customize them as you like? You didn’t?

Wadja gives you one of the best online photo editing tools in order to edit your uploaded photos and tunnel your creativity. The photo you took by the beach with the sun setting behind creates an artistic and romantic feeling but you would like to have it in black and white. Or you would like to frame it so that it looks like a painting on the wall. No problem!

As you know all your uploaded photos can be seen in the Mediabox section. So, just <!-- /* Font Definitions */ @font-face {font-family:"Cambria Math"; panose-1:2 4 5 3 5 4 6 3 2 4; mso-font-charset:161; mso-generic-font-family:roman; mso-font-pitch:variable; mso-font-signature:-1610611985 1107304683 0 0 159 0;} @font-face {font-family:Calibri; panose-1:2 15 5 2 2 2 4 3 2 4; mso-font-charset:161; mso-generic-font-family:swiss; mso-font-pitch:variable; mso-font-signature:-1610611985 1073750139 0 0 159 0;} /* Style Definitions */ p.MsoNormal, li.MsoNormal, div.MsoNormal {mso-style-unhide:no; mso-style-qformat:yes; mso-style-parent:""; margin-top:0cm; margin-right:0cm; margin-bottom:10.0pt; margin-left:0cm; line-height:115%; mso-pagination:widow-orphan; font-size:11.0pt; font-family:"Calibri","sans-serif"; mso-fareast-font-family:Calibri; mso-bidi-font-family:"Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-language:EN-US;} .MsoChpDefault {mso-style-type:export-only; mso-default-props:yes; font-size:10.0pt; mso-ansi-font-size:10.0pt; mso-bidi-font-size:10.0pt; mso-ascii-font-family:Calibri; mso-fareast-font-family:Calibri; mso-hansi-font-family:Calibri;} @page Section1 {size:612.0pt 792.0pt; margin:72.0pt 90.0pt 72.0pt 90.0pt; mso-header-margin:36.0pt; mso-footer-margin:36.0pt; mso-paper-source:0;} div.Section1 {page:Section1;} --> pick the photo you want to edit. On the toolbar above the photo there is a button that reads “edit in picnik”. Click on it and you will immediately “hop” to a different WadjaWorld where you can be creative, funny and artistic.

When picnik loads you are ready to begin. Transform your photo, change colors, add effects, frame it; create something entirely new. When you are done and satisfied, just click on the “Save in Wadja” button and your new creation will be saved in your Mediabox for everyone to see and admire. Rest assured that your friends will be thrilled with your skills and will definitely ask how you did it.

It’s easy, creative and fun.

Unique Visitors or Bounce rate? That is the question, by feed - wadja world

Indeed that’s the question; and it’s a serious question to tackle. Jacob Nielsen in his latest Alertbox supports that unique visitors’ metrics should die and turn to bounce rates by entry source.

Come to think about it, this statement is pretty much right. Bounce rates by entry source provide lots of information on various levels about your site and its users. The entry source can give you not only quantitative but qualitative information as well. While saying for example that 70% of your visitors come from Google search, 20% from techblogs and 10% from other sites, it gives you a straightforward image of the quality of your visitors. A user that landed to your homepage through Google is expected to stay to your site. This is because the user knew exactly what he/she was looking for. Thus, is more likely to proceed to a second, third and forth click (and so on); deeper into the site. On the other hand users that land to your homepage from, let’s say, ubiquitous sites, it’s very probable not to click for a second time, just turn away and leave; forever. Not making this second click can be attributed to various reasons which we will analyze in the future.

So it could be argued that a site’s “success” should be determined by measuring bounce rates; since bounce rates provide us with qualitative data, and we all know that quality is pretty much what we are looking for. On the other hand, one may say that a site’s success is also measured based on monetization models and revenue schemes. The most common source of revenues is advertising, with banner advertising being the most popular. In order to make money from ads, all you have to do is bring as many people to your site as possible. This translates to Visitors and Unique Visits which is what you need in order to get high rates and thus honey to the honeypot. Visitors and Unique Visits are all about quantity which consequently rivals quality.

This endless war between quality and quantity seriously affects your site and puts a thorn on your side. To help you clear up your mind a little bit just consider the following: “chasing higher unique-visitor counts will undermine your long-term positioning because you'll design gimmicks rather than build features that bring people back and turn them into devotees and customers”. Unique visitors or bounce rates? That is the question. In fact this is a question that can only have a subjective answer. Is a black or white answer possible? Maybe or maybe not.

Mobile Web I hear... Is that the future coming?, by feed - wadja world

TechCrunch UK was here in Athens last night! And what a night it was...
The event took place at a beautiful place by the sea (Bocca Beach), with a nice cool breeze, a young and interesting crowd, and among them the most promising of the Greek startups!

After a few setbacks ("Does anybody have a microphone?"), the OpenCoffee - TechCrunch event in Athens finally started at 21:30, instead of 20:00. Mike Butcher, editor of TechCrunch UK, gave the opening presentation and after some interesting stats about startup exits in the web industry, his presentation moved onto the Mobile Web:
With the new iPhone and all those amazing phones coming out, the Mobile Web seems to be the future! And the time to jump on it is now, since it'll probably go sky high in the next 12 to 18 months, he said... He went on to mention that the Mobile Web is a perfect fit for Europe (and Greece especially!), since Europeans are mobile phone crazy, because we love being out there, in coffee shops, pubs, and bars, enjoying "the real life", as he called it.

What about Wadja? For starters, a big issue about the Mobile Web is not to pretend that it's a totally different thing than the Web itself... cause it isn't! And Wadja does a pretty good job bridging those gaps of functionality and interface between PC and mobile web browsers.

And what about all those great new phones? Well, Wadja looks great on an iPod Touch or an iPhone (as featured in apple.com), but we take that even further... Our philosophy is actually making all mobile web devices look and feel like a Touch. Is that possible? See for yourselves at http://m.wadja.com from any mobile web device, anywhere in the world...

Wadja Hot Tips, by Feed - Wadja World

Every week I will be writing useful hot tips concerning Wadja features.

I will begin with Labels on photos. Label is this square box that you put on uploaded photos in the Mediabox section. You can use Labels to describe something funny on a photo or to draw attention to something. Labels can be funny and useful because they create a unique feeling related with your photos and what is most important, is that this feeling is shared with your friends and contacts.

All you have to do to add labels to your favorite photos is to go to your photos in your Mediabox and click on the “Add Label” button. The square box will appear and next to it you can add your text. Adjust its size and drag it anywhere on the photo and click “ok”. You can add as many Labels as you want!

There you go! Now you have Labels on your photos and spread the fun.

More Wadja hot tips next week.
